They force you to have them do a general inspection of your vehicle before they will look at your transmission. I told them that I had the scanner codes for the transmission issues but they refused to use them. After they gave me a very high price for the transmission work, I declined to have the work done. That's when I found out they charged me $282 for the "inspection". They fixed absolutely nothing. They have a really big scam going in my opinion.
You are correct in the fact that we do a complementary vehicle inspection on every vehicle that come to our shop. The fee that you paid is for the Tech that did the testing and research on your problem and to cover the data subscriptions( no one wants to work for free). The reason for our inspection is to give our customers as much information as possible to make the best decision for their budget and vehicle. It is about full transparency and a small amount of CYA for my shop. As for you having the trouble codes and we wouldn't use them, that is only a small portion of the testing procedure. When a trouble code is set the vehicle computer stores a lot of information as to what was going on at that time. our commercial and OEM grade tools let us look at this data so as to get the correct diagnosis of the problem. Your vehicle had problems with reverse and on that transmission reverse is not controlled by the computer but internal transmission linkage and vales to direct the fluid to apply the proper clutch packs and a one way sprag assembly. During the coarse of our complementary inspection we did find some other issues and brought them to your attention, you're welcome. We wish you the best for your vehicle repairs and if you need us we will be more than happy to assist you. Thank You, The Team at Lake Sumter Transmissions
